However, some brands may contain other ingredients like turpentine, which may affect how smoothly your experiment runs. Step#2 Add Acid of Choice into Solvent Mixture 

This is the step where you determine your pH during the reaction. The acid can be vinegar, hydrochloric acid, or sulfuric acid. You want to add enough to reach your desired pH (pH 5-6), but not so much that it causes a violent reaction.

Once you have added all of your acids, stir them properly at high temperatures until they stop bubbling. Stir the solution for about 18 hours on a hot-plate stirrer. 

Step#3 Different Solvent-Acid Combination

The reaction of acid and solvent determines which strain of delta 8 is made, and the byproducts also vary in every acid-solvent combination reaction. So, before starting the process, make sure to decide which strain of delta 8 you want and add the acid and solvent accordingly.

Step#4 Washed and Dried 

After stirring the mixture for 18 hours, different solution phases will separate. Discard the upper phase of the solution and wash with a solution with 5% NaHCO3. This process will neutralize the solution.

Step#5 Final Testing

The final testing is the most critical step as it determines the purity of your product. Use HPLC to isolate different cannabinoids in solution, and it will also help you find what byproducts you get from the process. 

After separating your target product delta 8, check the product for purity.
